Holy Week Worship
If there is no resurrection of the dead, then not even Christ has been raised. And if Christ has not been raised, our preaching is useless and so is your faith. (1 Cor. 15:13-14)
Our annual holy season of Lent draws to a close this month. For these forty days, we have again directed our gaze more earnestly to the cross of Christ. But these Lenten days are not an end in themselves. They are a means to life! The cross of Christ is not an end in itself. It is a means to life!
Since Jesus Christ rose from death and the grave on Easter, forgiveness, life, and salvation are guaranteed to every believer. To paraphrase the passage above: “Your faith is not worthless! Your faith in Jesus Christ has value – now and forever!”
During Holy Week (April 13-20) - Join us in worship as we remember those events that brought our forgiveness and salvation to reality. Our messages focus on Jesus Christ, the King of kings.
Palm Sunday (April 13) (Celebration Worship w/ Holy Communion) - The people of Jerusalem waved palm branches and welcomed Jesus, shouting “Hosanna to the Son of David!” Our message is “King of Kings: A Humble Coronation.”
Maundy Thursday (April 17) (Evening Worship at 7 pm w/ individual absolution and Holy Communion) On the night He was betrayed, Jesus shared His last supper with His disciples. Through the simple forms of bread and wine, He established a new covenant in His Body and Blood. Our message is “King of Kings: Condemned to Die.”
Good Friday (April 18) (Stations of the Cross at 11:30 am and Order of Tenebrae (Service of Growing Darkness) at 7 pm) Wearing a crown of thorns, Jesus was mocked by soldiers as He went to the cross to die for our sins. With great awe, we recall what Christ has done. Our evening message is “King of Kings: Life through Death.”
Easter Sunday (April 20) (Celebration Worship w/ Holy Communion) - Early in the morning of the first day of the week, Jesus rose from the grave! Death and the devil could not hold the Lord Almighty! . Our message is “King of Kings and Lord and Lords!.” Please bring a cut flower to add to our “rugged cross” turning it into an Easter Floral Cross. Join us for a Continental Breakfast and Easter Egg Hunt after worship!
